Social Justice » Current Projects

Members and friends of the Unitarian Fellowship, like other Unitarians, have always been keenly interested in social justice issues. Our second principle, “Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations”, points us toward ... the larger community. It gets at collective responsibility. It reminds us that treating people as human beings is not simply something we do one-on-one, but something that has systemic implications and can inform our entire cultural way of being.”

Syrian Refugee Sponsorship: In the fall of 2015 we joined with the Sarnia Muslim Association to form the Sarnia Interfaith Refugee Partnership. Together we have successfully raised funds and in early July 2016 were matched with a Syrian family. We are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of these newcomers. Soup Sundays: We also host a “Soup Sunday” once a month with proceeds going to the Inn of the Good Shepherd in Sarnia. In the past members and friends regularly volunteered one Sunday a month to prepare dinner for the Inn’s clients.
